Where We Started

At Transformations, we believe that life is a journey of continual growth and development. While much research focuses on childhood and youth, adult development is often overlooked.

With a background in team development, Tom was inspired by the idea of promoting personal growth in any stage of life, including later years.

Transformations began when Tom was invited to help a group of young Indigenous men become employable. Our first retreat took place in Houston, but we later relocated to Prince George to better serve our community from a more central location.

“I learned to trust, care, and have pride for who I am.”

Why We Do What We Do

At Transformations, we are committed to the health and well-being of First Nations individuals. Our journey began with a vision to support First Nations communities, addressing the unique challenges they face. We acknowledge the impact of residential schools, high suicide rates, addiction, and abuse. These issues require specialized care and understanding.

By providing a safe, compassionate space, we help participants heal from trauma and find a path to a healthier, more independent life. Our programs are designed to foster personal development, build strong community connections, and offer hope for a brighter future.

Every day, we see the transformative power of doing the very difficult work that results in transformed lives and families.

“Transformations is an experience that will be with me forever.”

The Future of Transformations

The future of Transformations is bright and full of promise. We aim to expand our programs, reaching more First Nations communities across Canada. By increasing the number of events and camps, we hope to provide healing and personal development opportunities to even more individuals.

We are committed to continuous improvement and adapting to the needs of those we serve. This includes developing new activities and support systems that address emerging challenges. Our focus will remain on creating safe, compassionate spaces for healing and growth.

In the coming years, we envision a stronger network of participants and alumni, fostering connections that extend beyond our programs. Together, we will work towards a future where every First Nations community is healthy, independent, and free.
